Royal Copenhagen Candle Holders
I sometimes go on eBay to look for bank-related items. It's not difficult to find things from British or American banks. But things from French, German and other banks are hard to find. One day a few weeks ago, I randomly entered the name "Den Danske Bank" into eBay, fully expecting not to find anything, but the photo of a pair of candle holders showed up. "It must be a mistake," I thought. When I clicked on it, it turned out to be a pair of Royal Copenhagen fine china candle holders made in 1971 (my birth year!) to commemorate the Danish bank's 100th anniversary! At USD $35 (plus $9 shipping) they're a little over my normal budget, but I liked them too much to pass on the opportunity. I bought this pair from someone in Florida, and I kept wondering how did the Danish china get to Florida from Denmark? And now they've moved once more to Toronto, Canada.
