Jordan - Petra's Treasury under Candle Light
Petra (from πέτρα "petra", rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Butrā) is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is renowned for its rock-cut architecture. The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was discovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage." In 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site. Candles for the dead
I was given the opportunity to shoot inside the San Juan Bautista Mission in San Juan Bautista, California. Despite the fact that there were a couple of dozen people inside the church praying I was able to get some decent shots. After the first couple of shots I realized that I had the beep turned on and I promptly turned it off. No one seemed to mind that I was shooting around the church while they were praying. These candles are lit in commemoration of the dead. It seemed like such a time-honored tradition that it warranted capture..

Babies in Toyland Party: MEMORIAL
Party in Austin, TX by an old friend from my high school on 5dec09. It was a good time, and I will be back. Unfortunately there was a death of a very close friend of the hostess, Jenny. At 7:30 PM on 5dec09 Andrea B. fell to spinal meningitis after a battle in the hospital that did not last even 48 hours. A beautiful woman who passed on in her early 40's who was an extraordinary artist and was much loved by many who attended the party. Surviving Andrea B. are her two children, one age 2 and the other age 12, and I am unclear at this point about the rest of the details. To the friends of Andrea B. and family, I never knew her but what I saw that night what I feel was the most faint light of her brilliance..
