Chestnuts... (5/5)
...roastin on an open fire. Although no snow here, it is getting colder. Time for some raosted chestnuts. For SLW: Reflection : there is not much of a reflection to be seen on the chestnuts or candle holder here, but enough to get you the impression of candles and to set the mood. And although the main light source is a window on right, it has still that warm color effect. I like the reflection of candle light in this one, but I'm not that satisfied with the overall composition. Maybe the front is a bit too crowdy and the photo is a bit two-parted, brown in front, green in back. But at last it was a fun shot to get that Christmas feeling into the photo. And I couldn't resist to do it, because in the back the "Christmas Song" was playing: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire....

Enticing
I had planned to photograph our entire Christmas dinner, for posterity, but in the end I got way too carried away in the actual eating. Typical... always thinking with my stomach! I did have just about self control to snap the oysters and champagne before they disappeared. And divine they were, too... I can wholeheartedly recommend The Whitstable Shellfish Company . Rick Stein likes them, and so do we... beautiful oysters and exemplary service. Yum..

A Christmas keepsake made by my maternal grandmother in 1987. One of a set of four, it's my favorite. Happy holidays!.
Heart lights
Heart-shaped bokeh created by holding a piece of paper with a 1/4 inch heart cutout in front of the camera lens. LumoPro 120 flash camera right with CTO gel and 2-stop neutral density gel at 1/32 power to push a little light onto the candle (the flame does not provide enough light for a decent exposure without losing the balance between the flame and background lights). Explore #33 Shot with a 50mm f1.8 lens wide open and a +2 closeup filter. A string of lights was hung on a boom stand in the background..
