Over morning coffee, we commonly share the latest wild imaginations from our personal vision. Then we like to say, "what if…" or, "ohk, but what about this also…" and through our exchanges, our personal ideas stretch beyond the capabilities of our individual minds. It's fun and many times one idea leads to another and in a few minutes, a simple idea has become elaborate and wild! This was one of those situations. Our end scenario we settled on was doable and exciting to try. In this process, we overlapped each other's weaknesses with the other's strength, and in my opinion- I'm damn proud of what we made! This was a night to honour the deceased and jack-o-lanterns carved from turnips or gourds, were used to welcome deceased loved ones and provide protection against malevolent spirits. When European settlers arrived in America they found the native pumpkin to be larger, easier to carve and so the perfect choice for jack-o-lanterns.
