blue advent candlesthis is origami crane i made for grandma. unfortunately i didn't have enough time to fold 1000... i gave her a red sweater too. both red colour and origami crane symbolize longevity. and i read a Japanese poem for her. it's called "Ame ni mo makezu" from Kenji Miyazawa. scrapbook.ameba.jp/englishblog_book/entry-10008257580.html i don't know if the translation is correct... i read it in Japanese and in German ;-)

blue and silver candlesThe windowsills are very deep. These vases from Wal-Mart make great "hurricanes" for the candles. Batting and shredded plastic snow line the sill and are topped with silver ornaments and silver beads. The lights are on the redbud tree outside the dining room window.
blue beeswax candlesYay! I got my goodies today. I was admiring someone else's little sock blocker, wondering where I could get one, and then I got it from the swap myself. I think a sock this size won't be so intimidating. And, I wouldn't have to worry about Second Sock Syndrome! Beutiful blue cotton yarn, handdyed green wool, beautiful glass stitch markers, and beeswax to make a candle. I was going on and on about honey today to my sister. Saying how I want to visit a local farm this summer. And how Chuck in Pushing Daisies had her own bees. And, yes. It smell wonderful.

blue candle computerit's been a rough week in boston. someone i know employed a bridge in her suicide earlier this week, and then this morning a friend of many (though i didn't know him personally) broke his neck in a scooter accident. i'd been meaning to go to the bon festival anyway, since i think it's a beautiful way to honor my pop, my grandpa, and various friends who i've lost, but this week it was just plain necessary. if there's one of these in your area, i suggest it. beautiful and therapeutic. they had showa students (an exchange program from japan) volunteering to paint characters on the rice paper sheaths, but they only had four options: Hope, Love, Eternal LIfe, and Peace. sad that 'peace' is such a cliche term in our time. seems to have lost its power. but looking at the other options, it seemed the most pertinent. old age, alcoholism, suicide, accidents... friends, family, familiar stra
blue candle holderSo it was raining pretty much all day, and .suh-lest. came over and we felt like doing smoke trails. I've never done them, and neither had she, so we experimented for a bit. Thanks Celeste for holding the flash! This is a composite of 3 different images, with two of them being mirrored. we thought one of them looked kinda like a rose & stem, and i decided to put it in the "mouth" of the demonic-skull thingie because the mouth area looked too empty.
