Dirk's shrine. This was where he was killed. Admittance to this room was controlled, but it still had a bunch of people in it every time I went there. Drinking, laughing, smoking, crying: It was precisely what Dirk would have wanted. However, it's still quite unsettling to party somewhere where someone had been shot less than a week prior. Definitely a lot of cognitive dissonance going on: You want to have fun -- and Dirk would have wanted us to -- but you feel sad and guilty at the same time. It was the most surreal party of my life. I hosted people from other states. I even hosted someone I'd never met without my knowledge: Dude was in my house when I woke up, having flown in from New York. I saw people I hadn't seen for years. It was an amazing experience, but totally not worth the price of <a t.
