So I decided to trick myself with Trick Wicks - bad idea - my place almost went on fire!! Sorry for the low quality but that's what you get for 30 minutes of shoot / retouch time... And now i am off to paaaaarrrteeeyyyy!!! with my totally incredible girlfriends who make me richer than Microsoft ever will be!!! LOVU GRRRLLZZZ~~~!!!!!!!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #10 on September 30, 2007.
Candle Time Panorama
Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Flow of Air Just before I wanted to erase all the other candle shots I realized that they look pretty cool if looked at them like in a flip-book. Tried to convey this look into a single shot. What came out was a "time panorama" similar to this shot here. What it took: Seven shots in seven layers. The blending was easy here: I just chose "lighten" which has the effect that the brighter pixels in two layers are dominant and therefore visible. In this case the background is always darker than the subject making a blending easy. In the end I also wanted to fulfill the "dare" and used a cooling filter, giving the desired color blue..

Blow Out
Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Flow of Air Flowing air can be made visible with the help of smoke. That was my intention here. What it took: I filled up my 1 GB storage card twice to find the right shot... Learned a lot while doing so. In order to see the smoke you need to light it from behind in front of a dark background. So I put the candle on a black plate, placed it on the edge. Used the 500 Watt halogen beamer from behind and hung a black curtain on the wall. Then I tried and tried and tried. I you blow too much there is no structure. If you do not blow enough there is no flow visible. Well you get the picture. So did I in the end, Raised the contrast a little (to get a more uniform black) and converted into black and white. No extra photoshopping was applied. WYSIWYG..
